Suzan Hall was a school trustee for 16 years before being elected on council. She rarely speaks in council meetings but her voting record in her last term of council shows she is a swing voter. She was in favour of the bridge to the Island Airport and opposed increased TTC funding.

Encompassing parts of Rexdale, Ward 1 is very ethnically diverse with a large East Indian population and one of the highest proportion of newcomers in the city, with 74.7% of its residents being first-generation immigrants.
