Glenn de Baeremaeker proved to be a rising star on the last council. He came to politics through the environmental movement. He was a moving force in the Save the Rouge campaign that led to the creation of the Rouge Park and he played an important role in the effort to save the Oak Ridges Moraine from development. By making him the chair of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee Mayor Miller is signaling that he takes environmental issues seriously. De Baeremaeker has to deliver on this important mandate if he is to make his mark on the city’s political life.
